Bujinkan Seishin Dojo Croatia and SPECWOG invite you to JAWARA Jutsu Shinken Gata Seminar, which will be held in Zagreb, Croatia. Even nowadays, Jawara is successfully used in the self-defense techniques. Members of various law enforcement agencies all over the world use Jawara while performing their official duties. Among the others, Jawara is used in USA by members of LAPD, SFPD, NYPD and FBI. It is also used by British SAS.

 Jawara is a small stick or a rod (bar), used in self-defense and survival skills. It is made in the variety of shapes and materials. The traditional Jawara weapons were mostly wooden or metal. Nowadays, Jawara weapons are made of polymers, plastic, aluminum, etc. 

 

In Japan, Jawara was already used during the feudal age. Ancient Japanese skill of Jawara use is called Jawara Jutsu. Jawara belongs to the tenouchi weapons (i.e. ‘a weapon that is held in the fist’). Jawara is also called ‘Tekko’, ‘Koppo’ and ‘Jubo’. It belongs to the Ninja Hibuki weapons (i.e. ‘hidden Ninja weapons’).

 

Despite the small dimensions, Jawara is a powerful weapon. It is small enough to be concealingly carried, it is very simple to use and excellent for effective self-defense. The design of Jawara is very simple, and it is not heavy. Jawara can be stored and carried almost anywhere, and it is not easily visible. Knowing that it is legal to have Jawara is also important - to carry this weapon is not prohibited by law.

 

Jawara Jutsu skill uses the various techniques of hitting, pressing, stabbing and grabbing the vital points (KyuSho), making the greatest effect on the attacker. Various techniques, including the techniques of hitting, making leverages, choking and pressing can be performed with Jawara, just as the techniques of throwing and ‘locking’/’firming’ the attacker. Jawara is a very efficient weapon. It is also almost ‘invisible’ in the close combat.

 

Jawara is held in a fist, enabling the additional force and strength of hitting. It can be used for pressing and hitting, as with the hammer; also for stabbing and pressing, as with the knife. By using a cord, Jawara can be easily hidden in the palm/hand. This cord prevents Jawara to fall out from the hand accidentally, and enables the use of the whole handgrip while grabbing the body or clothes of the attacker.

 

Techniques performed with Jawara are similar to the techniques of fighting with the knife. They are very efficient, but less dangerous. They allow you to defend yourself and also not to end up in prison. With Jawara, we can hit virtually all the parts of the body without fearing that the attacker will suffer too much damage.

 

At this seminar, Shihan Dean Rostohar - Shinryu will teach and demonstrate the various techniques and tactics of fighting with Jawara.
