Hatsumi Sensei showed us the sketch of the new book about Taijutsu, edited by Kodansha International. A beautiful, fantastic and necessary book for all budoka. I believe this book will end the technique collectors, since within are collected many important aspects for the evolution as a budoka and the progression and comprehension of taijutsu. SNAILS... We all know that during class breaks in honbu Dojo, Hatsumi Sensei paints for all the students that wish for it. In April I received a very appropriate painting for his teachings. He painted me a snail. During his classes, Hatsumi Sensei makes a special emphasis about the importance of moving slowly – and for that when there is a Spaniard he always say “caracoles” (snails) - , even against fast attacks from an adversary. At first sight and if one sees it with the eyes of a “sports martial art” it can seem an incongruence. But real martial arts are not a sport and hide many aspects that are of vital importance for their comprehension. I felt how Sensei was giving me prioritary information to be able to transcend and understand his budo. Now my job is to work on it. A big hug and see you soon.
